What I like about the layer cake quilt patterns is how versatile they are. This one is pieced from quarter-square triangle blocks and squares, creating the illusion of stars covering the quilt top. This simple layer cake quilt has an interesting twist in how it’s pieced. It’s a raw-edge quilt or usually called a rug quilt, made from mini quilted parts. Each layer cake is like its own mini quilt, and they’re sewn together. The connecting seams are clipped to give it wavy edges.
